During our journey through different places in the country, together with our coordinator we went to another place that might seem quite odd at first to visit. Imprisoned Graves, a place full of history inside the Jail of Nicosia.
Ok, most probably your first thought while you are reading this is why in the world would you visit this place? And it sounds fair enough. But I can guarantee you that if you visit the place your skin will become similar with the chicken one.
The Imprisoned Graves represent a small cemetery inside the jail , where 13 EOKA fighters were interred during their liberation struggle for the liberation of Cyprus.
We were able to visit the cells where they were being kept and we also saw the place where they have been executed. And I can guarantee you, hearing on an old men telling you about it and what happened, and actually being there in that place, you will feel like you will not be able to breathe anymore. It was so emotional, so sad, so confusing, so…so so. It is the history of Cyprus, it is a place where they commemorate them. Yes, but is actually the life stories of those people.
Now is just a national monument where thousands of people visit. But the place is a chapter of the history that can not be forgotten.
