Cypriot mother

Exploring some villages during the weekend we arrived at the top of the mountain of Papoutsa in the village of Palaichori. There is the statue of the Cypriot Mother, a statue of a symbol made in 1961 and praising the mothers who gave their own struggle during the liberation struggle of 1955-59.
In order to reach the statue you need first to climb 145 steps. When you arrive there you can see more details like the traditional costume of Cyprus that she is wearing and the hand: with one hand being on the right knee and the other on the stool. The look of the Cypriot Mother is in the whole area of Palaichori and is ready to spread her arms and protect all her children.
You can see also the figures of the three heroes of 1955, Kyriakos Matsis, Nikos Georgiou and Michalis Karalis. Three young men out of the thousands who left the warmth of their mothers to join into the struggle against of the conquerors.
So we can say that these three men companion the Cypriot mother in the highest point of the mountain.
May the statue of Cypriot Mother refer to the liberation struggle of 1955-59, yet it is a diachronic symbol, a symbol of struggle, philosophy and morality.
Last but not least the statue is in a wonderful location, in a green environment and from the hill you want to take pictures with your eyes of the landscape that spreads in front of them.
