As I said in the previous articles, me and a part of my team and our coordinator went to visit together some places in Cyprus. This time we visited, Lefkara, a small village. Ok, I must admit, at first I had second thoughts about going to the country side because my own opinion about the country side is not the best. And that is because in general I am not a big fan of it. But I said, well, why not, let’s see what country side actually means here, in Cyprus. And I had a big shock, my notion of it is waaay too different from the reality of Cyprus. I was amazed by how beautiful it is!
I simply enjoyed so much walking through the streets. I didn’t feel that I was in a small village, I felt like I was walking on the streets of a small town full of history.
Somehow, it reminded me of the small streets in Italy. But yes, Lefkara for sure has some history:
Another surprise was seeing the women in front of their houses doing embroidery. Apparently it was a tradition that is still being kept. And I loved it. It reminded me of our own traditions from my country. But the fact that they still do it , they still keep the tradition alive, is what gives the sparkle of this village.
Whether you search for some history, for tradition or simply to enjoy your time there, Lefkara is waiting for you.
From plates, silver jewelry to free books, Lefkara is for sure some fresh air that will open up your senses.
And you can easily get yourself lost in these beautiful streets here.
