This is one type of mind/body connection. When you are stressed, anxious or upset , your body reacts in a way that might tell you that something isn’t right, these can lead to different types of diseases such as high blood pressure or stomach ulcer.
Poor emotional health can weaken your body’s immune system. Because of this you will be more likely to get colds and other infections. That’s why you have to take care of your body by having a regular routine of eating healthy meals, getting enough sleep and exercising.
There are ways that you can improve your emotional health. It’s important to recognize your emotions and understand why you are having them. Sorting out the causes of sadness, stress and anxiety can reduce their intensity and help you manage your emotional well-being.
Allow your thoughts to come and go, focus on things that you are grateful for in your life, visualize positive images to generate positive feelings. Try to not obsess about the problems you have at work, school or home because they lead to negative feelings, refocus your attention on different stimuli. It doesn’t mean you have to pretend to be happy when you feel stressed or upset, it’s important to deal with these negative feelings and try to focus on positive things in your life.
Having a positive outlook can improve your quality of life and give your health a boost. Sometimes you may also need to find ways to let go of some things in your life that make you feel stressed and overwhelmed and make time for things that you enjoy.
People who have good emotional health and a good state of mind are aware of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They have learned healthy ways to deal with stress and problems that are a normal part of life. They feel good about themselves and have healthy relationships.
