Rotas Museum? Or how to get lost in Nicosia
This time I have decided for my imap to visit some museums. Having three on my list, I decided to go near Famagusta Gate because there two museums were in similar areas.
Arriving to Famagusta Gate, I couldn’t stop myself but I went inside and visited again. Until now, for me, this is the coldest place that I found in the city. Initially built by venetians and being a copy of Lazaretto Gate of Candia, later on, on the Ottoman period, only Turks were allowed, now it became cultural centre. However, this place became Heaven for me for a few moments.
Anyway, I continued my way to Rotas Museum. This way, I discovered how well my maps application works…or not. After getting a little bit lost in the streets, I managed to find the address. Or at least, I thought so. When the application informed me that I arrived to my destination, surprise: no museum there. It was actually an Art Studio, but it was closed.
Being already quite late, I decided not to waste my time anymore to search for this museum, and to continue my list with the next one. I went back to Famagusta Gate and started my new journey research. Got again lost in the streets, or better said, lost in the views. The architecture of the buildings are quite spectacular.
I decided to give a second chance to my maps application and I used it again. But when I arrived to the destination, surprise:
This is a museum?!
Ok, my application is not working, obviously. I kept on walking on the streets near my destination and eventually, I found the museum. When I saw it, I realized that actually I passed by it earlier but for me it looked like a house and I didn’t even realize that that’s the museum that I was looking for. But surprise again, it was closed. Maria, today you are late, I said to myself.
Since I didn’t have time to search for another museum anymore, I decided to just enjoy the beauty of the streets. And cats. Lots of cats.
Although, I didn’t manage to visit the places that I had on my list, I still consider that this bad situation made me be actually lucky because I really enjoyed the sightseeing. Who knows, maybe next time I will have more luck, hihi.
