Benefits of pomegranate..
The pomegranate (Punica granatum) is cultivated all over the world and thrives in warm regions, islands and inland plains.
The tree was known in ancient Greece. The goddess Aphrodite linked her name to the origin of the pomegranate, as the myth says, she planted her first pomegranate in Cyprus(ρωβιά-ρόδι). Furthermore, it is Pluto’s fruit in Persephone to “bind” it with Hades and the emblem of the Eleusinian Mysteries. The ancient Egyptians drank it along with their dead, and it is one of the three “blessed fruits” of Buddhism. It was used as a decorative element in the temple of Solomon and in the mantles of the priests and refers to the Song of Songs in the Old Testament. In the Greek tradition, it is a symbol of fertility and eternity (although it is also associated with death), that is why at weddings and New Year we break pomegranates
But why so many cultures and so many religions have pomegranate as a symbol of fertility and good fortune? Of course because it has many benefits. Let’s see some of them.
- FIGHTS OBESITY – A glass of pomegranate juice a day can reduce the risk of obesity.
- PROTECTS AGAINST HEART DISEASE- By enriching your diet with the valuable polyphenols contained in pomegranate, you can prevent or slow down endothelial dysfunctions, which are a precursor to atherosclerosis and strokes.
- PROTECTS AGAINST BREAST CANCER- Laboratory experiments have shown that pomegranates contain certain chemicals that protect against breast cancer, with the strongest action being exerted by hepatic acid. This substance inhibits aromatase, an enzyme associated with the development of hormone-dependent breast cancer. Another research has shown that pomegranate phytochemicals slow the growth of various types of breast cancer. In particular, the ellagitalinins contained, inhibited the growth of estrogen-responsive breast cancer in various trials. Since there is no side effect from pomegranate consumption, experts say women have many reasons to consume them
- FIGHTS ARTHRITIS – It’s anti-inflammatory components help to neutralize inflammation associated with arthritis, while reducing the severity of the symptoms.
Make decoction: In 1 liter of boiling water, pour 1 cup of pomegranate peel and boil for 3. Wait for cooling and straining. You can drink 1 cup 10 before eating for 15 days. Pomegranate contributes to better functioning of the gastrointestinal system.
Wash and gargles: Pomegranate leaves are used, for example, in cases of hemorrhoids after each emptying, but also for the sore throat. In a cup of water, put 8-10 leaves and boil for 10. Surge and use in the first case the cold mixture – for local cleansing every night – for as long as necessary, and in the second calf for gargles, 2-3 times a day.
